Composer for Film & TV

Alex Lu is a Los Angeles based composer whose versatility spans across genres. His work can be heard on the recent box-office hit Twisters, The Flash, and director Ron Howard’s Thirteen Lives. Alex’s notable solo composer credits include Night Hunter (starring Henry Cavill and Sir Ben Kingsley) and In Pursuit of Silence, the latter earning him a Cinema Eye Honors nomination for Best Original Score. His frequent collaborations with Benjamin Wallfisch include Hellboy, It, and It Chapter Two.

In television, Alex took the helm as lead composer on Amazon Studio’s World Toughest Race, starring Bear Grylls. He has composed additional music  for Apple TV+’s  Tiny World, Nat Geo’s Hostile Planet, and the Russo Brothers-produced series Citadel. 

His scores in documentary include Punch 9 for Harold Washington, the story of Chicago’s first Black mayor. He is the composer of Seadrift, a documentary about the struggles of Vietnamese refugees in Texas, which was awarded the Grand Jury Prize at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.

Alex is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, alumnus of the acclaimed ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop, and recipient of the ASCAP David Rose Award.
